The Copper Leaf Folding Bottle Opener has the precise amount of steel, copper, and brass for a comfortable weight which rests well in the palm. The pure copper handle is planished in true Ben & Lael fashion, which encases the steel bottle opener with 100% U.S. made brass rivets.
This bottle opener is unique because it folds close. To open, lift the steel from the copper shell. The steel fits snugly inside the copper handle and is not spring-loaded. This allows our bottle opener to be safeguarded.
The steel bottle opener is forged from an old Sawmill blade, locally sourced here in Tennessee. An experienced blacksmith cuts the shape from the old blade and removes the temper of the metal by setting the steel in high heat in his forge for a few seconds; a very intricate process. Only after then, the steel is quenched in plant oil to strengthen it again. Canola oil allows for the best temper.
