Copper Hawthorne Strainer

$ 325.00

The Copper Hawthorne Strainer is the newest addition to the barware collection by Ben & Lael.

The classic Hawthorne style strainer was first used at the Hawthorne Café in Boston, MA in 1892, and has been in constant production ever since.  This bar staple is used to filter out the ice, fruit, herbs, and other ingredients of a cocktail as it is being poured into the glass.  It became popular after fresh, clean ice became widely available year-round and continues to be popular right up to the present day.

Our Copper Hawthorne Strainer is made individually by hand of pure copper, including the spring, and fastened with brass rivets.  The shape is based on the elegant and beautiful ginkgo leaf and hand planished to give it texture.
