The steel blade was created from an old Sawmill blade. The original high carbon steel undergoes another process to achieve the temper preferred by our in house blacksmith.
After the blade has been cut to it's shape, the steel is inserted into a forge then plunged into canola plant oil. A procedure used to re-temper the blade.
Master Craftsman Ben Caldwell then fabricates the copper handle. Similar to many of his pieces, the planish marks on the hilt is traditional Ben & Lael.
Joined together by brass rivets, the knife is complete. This cheese knife has the ability to securely fold open and shut.
